Render charges a fixed monthly price for an instance size; Railway charges for the CPU and memory the
service uses, against a monthly minimum. Price the same service on both, then see how busy it can be
before Railway stops being the lower bill.
Example: 1 vCPU, 2 GB memory, 100 GB out a month, one person. Change any field below and both bills update.
For this service, Render costs $6.27 a month less than Railway if the service uses its whole size all month: $75.24 over a year. Railway costs less while the service uses under 85% of its size on average; above that, Render's fixed $39.25 costs less.

What each bill counts
Render: the workspace plan, the smallest web service instance with at least the CPU and
memory chosen, bandwidth past what the workspace includes at $0.15/GB,
and persistent disk at $0.25/GB a month. The instance price is the
same whether the service is busy or idle.
Railway: the plan's monthly minimum, which includes the same amount of usage, then CPU at
$0.000463 per vCPU-minute and memory at $0.000231 per GB-minute for the share of the
size the service uses, egress at $0.05/GB and volume storage by the GB-minute. A month here is 730 hours (43,800 minutes), so a full vCPU is $20.28, a full GB of memory $10.12 and a GB of
volume $0.152, a little over Railway's $20, $10 and $0.15 for a 30-day month. A Hobby volume holds up to 5 GB, so a bigger disk is priced on Pro.
Left out on both: databases, extra instances or replicas, build minutes (Railway does not charge
for builds), support plans and tax. A service that sleeps or scales to zero changes both bills; this one runs all month.
