What is Storage overage?
Storage overage is the charge for persistent capacity beyond what a plan includes, or for all separately provisioned storage when none is included.
The expensive mistake
Comparing the compute sticker price while omitting the disk the workload actually needs. Persistent volumes can remain billable while detached, and backups, snapshots, IOPS, and transfer may be separate again.
Where it appears on your bill
Look for volume GB-month, provisioned storage, snapshot storage, backup storage, or additional disk lines rather than the compute SKU.
Worked example
The dated example calculates AWS t4g.nano compute at $3.066/month, uses EBS at $0.08/GB-month, and public IPv4 at $3.65/month. A 50 GB volume adds $4, so the known floor is $3.066 + $4 + $3.65 = $10.716 before snapshots and transfer, not the $3.066 compute headline.
