What is Control plane fee?
A control plane fee is the recurring charge for the managed components that run and coordinate a cluster, separate from the workloads they schedule.
The expensive mistake
Reading a control-plane price as the cluster total, or reading a worker price as if management were included. EKS standard support is billed per cluster-hour before worker compute, disks, load balancers, IPv4, logs, and transfer.
Where it appears on your bill
Look for a per-cluster-hour EKS, GKE, AKS, or managed Kubernetes charge distinct from nodes and networking.
Worked example
The dated example calculates AWS EKS standard support as $0.10 x 730 = $73/month. It also uses a GKE Autopilot 1 vCPU, 2 GiB pod scenario at $39.67185 while noting the separate $73 management fee. Those known lines total $112.67185 before storage, load balancing, transfer, or public IP.
